Fairfax, VA - The Thai Tennis Organization in America (TTOA) and the United States Tennis Association, the Reston Association, and Singha Beer are proud to announce the fourth annual Asian Festival. The Asian Festival is a one-day FREE ADMISSION event to promote a greater understanding of the Asian culture from Thailand, China, India, Philippines, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
Each participating country will showcase its unique music, cultural performances, food, beauty pageants, fashion, handicrafts, and other products and entertainment, including an Asian Idol contest, with a $1,000 prize. The event, which is the largest Asian Festival in the Washington, DC area, will occur on Saturday, July 21, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. � 9:00 p.m., at the Lake Newport Tennis Facility in Reston, VA.
This year's Festival includes a country highlight on Thailand, as the King of Thailand celebrates his 80th birthday. We are honoring His Majesty (H.M.) the King by contributing a special segment of the festival to truly appreciate what he has done for Thailand. We will feature Thai cultural performances from 4 regions, display many of the royal projects and showcase the largest retail store directly from the Royal Patronage of H.M. Queen Sirikit Arts & Crafts Center in Thailand.
In 2006, the Asian Festival attracted over 15,000 attendees. Twenty-five well-known Asian restaurants featured authentic specialty dishes from their countries and regions. Many of the specialty dishes are not available on the restaurants� menus! The festival featured 80 multicultural retail vendors, traditional Asian food and all day stage performances. Singha Beer provided the largest Singha Beer Garden in the United States for spectator enjoyment. The famous Thai kickboxing team from Las Vegas, NV and local camps showcased their talents and many cultural and art exhibits were on display.
This year, our goal is to continue introduce Asian cultures and Asian sports to the Washington, DC community. In conjunction with the Festival, local tennis stars will compete for a wildcard spot to play in one of the 5th largest prize money women's professional tennis challenger in the United States. A free Children's Tennis Clinic will be offered by current world top players from the Legg Mason Tennis Classic during the Festival. Beside tennis, the festival will also organize Asian Golf tournament, Asian Badminton tournament, Se-Pak-Ta-Kor tournament, and Asian soccer tournament at the same time of the festival where each sport offers $1,000 prize money.
The Thai Tennis Organization in America (TTOA) works with many local Asian Associations to introduce Asian cultures and tennis to the local community. TTOA�s mission is to promote tennis growth and encourage young people to broaden their horizons through education initiatives via scholarships. TTOA is a proud member of the USTA family, and was the recipient of the 2004 Organization of the Year Award by USTA Mid-Atlantic section and the USTA Virginia District.
