THE FAR EASTERN UNIVERSITY, SIFE THAILAND NATIONAL TEAM,
TO PARTICIPATE IN GLOBAL ENTERPRISE COMPETITION
(New York City, USA, 8 October 2007) SIFE students from The Far Eastern University (FEU), Chiangmai-Thailand will compete Thursday alongside 43 other SIFE teams from around the world at the 2007 SIFE World Cup competition at the Hilton New York in New York City, New York, USA. FEU SIFE won the 2007 SIFE Thailand National competition earlier this year, earning the team a slot at the SIFE World Cup.
More than 2,000 people will attend the competition. SIFE is a global non-profit organization that mobilizes university students to create economic opportunities for others while discovering their own potential. SIFE students form teams on their university campuses and develop outreach projects that center on entrepreneurship, market economics, business ethics, success skills, and finance in their communities. At the 2007 SIFE World Cup, the top SIFE teams in the world will present the results of their outreach projects to determine which teams made the most impact on their communities.
Mr. Chalermchai Phisitvanich, FEU SIFE THAILAND TEAM Faculty Advisor, who leads team to go to New York said This will be great experiences of all our students and Faculty Advisors to participate in SIFE World Cup at New York. We will not expect more than to share our project outreach to the global audiences and hope that our project Wishing for HIV/AIDS Affected Family will be supported and sustained by community throughout Thailand. Mr. Chalermchai added that There are many factors concerned in helping HIV/AIDS affected families, not only in the Northern region of Thailand,but must be in nationwide. FEU SIFE looks forward to all supports from both of private and government sectors. We belive that after this project was launched in this SIFE WORLD CUP 2007 to 43 nations, the world will share our emotion of their troubles of unaccepted by society.
Last year, the SIFE team from the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade took top honors at the 2006 SIFE World Cup in Paris, France. This championship team worked to help persons with disabilities become self-reliant. They established the Hongli Studio where 36 disabled workers could develop hand-crafted items for sale through websites and business partnerships. The SIFE team also partnered with the Ruiqiang Workshop to feature the work of Cao Ruiqiang, a disabled Zisha carver. The team secured two sales agents for Ruiqiang and assisted in exploring new markets.
SIFE started in Thailand in 2005 and have held 3 National Expositions with 20 active SIFE Teams across 11 provinces throughout Thailand. SIFE Thailand main sponsors include, the Stock Exchange of Thailand Foundation, KPMG Phoomchai Group, HSBC and The Nation.
